Jonathan KittermanRe: 30-30 bullets in 308 winchesterYou should attempt to keep them at the velocity of a .30-30 as the bullets are designed for that and that distance range. The Sierra manual notes say, "...these bullests are very effective in any 30 caliber cartridge if muzzle velocity level of 2500 to 2600 fps is into exceeded" The note is for the #2000, 2010 and 2020 pro hunter bullets which are used in a 30-30. My manual shows a .30-30 with a 150 grain in the 2200 to 2300 fps range. You might have a bit of trouble driving them that slow as the manual shows 308 winchester with 150 grains with 2500 as the slowest velocity with the powders they list. |

Chris GisclairRe: 30-30 bullets in 308 winchesterThis is something I would like to know for sure because they are pretty close in my opinion but I'm really not certain . |

Jonathan KittermanRe: 30-30 bullets in 308 winchesterI doubt you will see much difference between the two but look at the knowlegebase for both cartridges and the bullet notes. Make appropriate choice for expected range. |
