Imagine a 1961 cessna 180 with 29in tundra tires on a gravel bar in the wilds of Alaska. Flown by someone that can't figure out how to download pictures from his iPad via photo bucket.

That's it. Only those are air glass 3000 hydrolic wheel/skis not the 29in tundra tires. How did you do that Warwick.

Re: Show off your hunting vehicles? BIKE, BOAT,TRUCK, SNOW MOBILE, HORSE ETC?
Hi Gerry, there is a test page you can play on. When you get an image uploaded to photobucket (full image, not the thumb), look to the right of the screen for the code. Click on the code and it will automatically copy.
Note, it pays to have the image sized to web large before uploading otherwise it can make a forum thread display oddly after displacing all of the other components on the page. Plus it then makes the page hard for people to view if they have a slow connection.
On these forums and using the photobucket system, all you need to do is hit the ctrl and V key to paste the code into the thread. You do not need to use the image buttons on the forum post tag menu (above your post).

Note that Warwick's first image already displaced the page- but it means that I can go for broke and put up a full size but compressed image of my old girl.
FYI, the old girl really needs a new home. I don't use her enough anymore. I always used her for hunts but these days we use quads only.

Thank you for saying so gentleman. I do feel blessed. I must say that rumbling around in a land rover seems like high adventure to me. I've never been in one. There was a tv show that I loved as a kid called The Wild Kingdom that featured the land rover as the prominent vehicle of any adventure that was worth while.

Re: Show off your hunting vehicles? BIKE, BOAT,TRUCK, SNOW MOBILE, HORSE ETC?
Ha ha Gerry. I'm sure that you get the same excitement every time you head off in the Cessna 180 ? Here's a story I found on the Land Rover owners website.
Yesterday evening, the unthinkable happened: I took the Landy out the gate, down the street, down another street and then another street and then a road and then another and I just kept going......
In an unexpected twist, I had Wally onboard for the expedition. This made sense, as, rather than wait for me to arrive at his house to start complaining and criticising, he could yap at me all the way as we launched the expedition to find the fabled Northwest Passage from my back yard to his farm.
So, with the whine of the overdrive competing with The Who on the stereo (it was pretty-much a tie), we set out. Through valleys, across cane fields, over bridges, spanning great plains, corners, intersections, a traffic light and several gentle, undulating rises and a small pothole.... on we ploughed in the gloaming.
The Landy took it all in her stride, purring along at forty-four miles per hour and on one or two tense moments when reckless enthusiasm overcame prudence and momentarily put the brave expeditioners in peril fifty on some stretches.
At the far-off destination, hope was in the air. A crowd (small dog) had gathered, when, just on nightfall, an engine was heard in the distance. The far-off auditory oscillations rose to an approaching rumble then a triumphant clattering as the advance party drew into view.
Finally, as the motor was cut, few words were spoken. A firm handshake, a muttered Well done, old chap... and the crowd suddenly erupted in cheers (barking) and carried the explorers (idiots) shoulder high (ran behind them barking) to the awaiting formal reception (enamel mug of Stone's Green Ginger Wine).

Re: Show off your hunting vehicles? BIKE, BOAT,TRUCK, SNOW MOBILE, HORSE ETC?
It's called a deluxe bonnet. I was the second owner and how amazing that when it was new my Grandfather went for a ride in it the first week that Mr Kyle owned it. I had the original ownership papers for it. It had been repowered with a 186 Holden and had Rover 90 diffs she cruised at 110 kph. Mr Kyles son rang me one day and told me all about it. As it was over 40yrs old it only cost $40 a year for registration. I don't know what's happened to it. It's not on the NZ vehicle register. I've owned 4 Land Rovers they put a smile on your dial for sure, " THE LANDY WAVE" you have to own one for that.

Re: Show off your hunting vehicles? BIKE, BOAT,TRUCK, SNOW MOBILE, HORSE ETC?
We had an SIII with a Holden 186 motor for a while, an awesome beast.
Such a shame Land Rover never really adopted basic donks. Nissan, Toyota, Holden and Ford have all made great donks over the years. All tried and true. Mine in the photo above is a 2.2. Its a nice putt around motor and economical for bush work but dislikes modern fuel. You can tune it out of the bottom end or tune it out of the top end but you can't tune the poor thing both ways with 100% success. Best I can do is set the idle high, kick her in the guts and away we go.

Re: Show off your hunting vehicles? BIKE, BOAT,TRUCK, SNOW MOBILE, HORSE ETC?
Lol. The piston speed of a 2.25 4cyl Landrover @ 4280 rpm is 2,500 ft /min! (41.66fps)
What you have to remember is that they where built as an Expeditionary vehicle. Driven like a donkey and cart over rough terrain you'll get to your destination every time. Drive like a Cock chasing a hen and you deserve to fail! Low range first gear idle and you'll get nearly vertical and they ride like a Rolls Royce with 16 psi in the tires on rough roads and river beds. They need to be on 750/16 SAT original tires not 15 Inch car tires .
Ergh! Hijacked my own thread....
Keep your rides coming guys?
