Guy MainlandHi all. I'm after a sporter stock, preferably timber, for an m96 mauser. I'm on a budget and it doesn't have to be flash-say up to $150? You can get me on 021804000, thanks. |

Nathan FosterRe: Stock for m96 mauser (husqvarna)Hi Guy, the Ramline synthetic stocks are excellent. the plastic is reinforced, glass fiber in the mold as far as I can tell. Very tough stocks and very accurate after bedding. I see your cell number is a New Zealand number. Call Reloaders Supplies for this stock. |

Guy MainlandRe: Stock for m96 mauser (husqvarna)Okay thanks Nathan I'll look them up. Seems to be real "make a wish" stuff to find a timber stock for the m96. And I'll probably be tapping you for some bedding compound when I do settle on a stock. Loving the site, very generous of you to share your hard gained knowlege, awsome stuff! |

Nathan FosterRe: Stock for m96 mauser (husqvarna)Thanks Guy. If the barrel is sound, you will be very impressed with the accuracy and rigidity of the Ramline stock. I use one on my Swede and in the long range book, the very tight group shot with a Swede (photo), was another rifle fitted with a Ramline and bedded. |

Guy MainlandRe: Stock for m96 mauser (husqvarna)Okay mate, now I've got a decision, there's an unused boyds on trade me, which I was originally after. I've contacted reloaders for price and availability, I'm guessing the two stock's will be roughly the same price. Do you mind me asking which would you recomend to a bloke onto his first bedding job? The synthetic stocks seem a little more complicated to do, are they worth it? |

Nathan FosterRe: Stock for m96 mauser (husqvarna)The Boyds is also nice. It has less grip texture though, the forend is rather slippery which can hinder accurate shooting but this is more pronounced in higher recoiling platforms. The Boyds is a very smart stock, straight recoiling, comfortable to shoot. If you want wood, this laminate is close to such a finish, a very nice appearance. There are no negatives, just the slippery texture which can be altered if need be.Whichever way you go, bedding the M96 has its complexities that have to be patiently worked through. I will try to put up a post about this in the rifles general discussion. |

Guy MainlandRe: Stock for m96 mauser (husqvarna)Okay the Unfinished Walnut Boyds turned up. Paid way too much for it but didn't want to wait for another one to become available, that's life. Umm it says delete your post when you're finished with it. I'm a little electronically challenged-How do I do that? |
