Here are some of mine:If you wait by the river long enough, the bodies of your enemies will float by. Sun Tzu, Chinese military strategist Treat your men as you would your own beloved sons. And they will follow you into the deepest valley. Sun Tzu Feel free to add your own. |

Nathan FosterRe: Favourite QuotesAn interesting topic and some really neat quotes. I have one book full of nothing but quotes which I open randomly and use as point of focus when I wish to quiet my mind. I also use online quote lists. What I do here, this work, this site, has been no easy task over the years and has required great courage (that means doing something when I am afraid- not acting as though I am not afraid) and commitment to the task. During these very tough times, I would (and still do) sit and read quotes. Such a great thing- one or two sentences can really brighten ones day. Many of my favorite quotes come from the Dalai Lama. Here are just a handful: Judge your success by what you had to give up in order to get it. If you think you are too small to make a difference, try sleeping with a mosquito. Know the rules well, so you can break them effectively. Choose to be optimistic, it feels better. Take into account that great love and great achievements involve great risk. Compassion is not religious business, it is human business, it is not luxury, it is essential for our own peace and mental stability, it is essential for human survival. One problem with our current society is that we have an attitude towards education as if it is there to simply make you more clever, make you more ingenious. Even though our society does not emphasize this, the most important use of knowledge and education is to help us understand the importance of engaging in more wholesome actions and bringing about discipline within our minds. The proper utilization of our intelligence and knowledge is to effect changes from within to develop a good heart. To conquer oneself is a greater victory than to conquer thousands in a battle. If you want others to be happy, practice compassion. If you want to be happy, practice compassion. |
