Paul LevermanFamous people say famous things. We all have at least one quote from a famous or infamous source that we like and use. Here are some of mine:If you wait by the river long enough, the bodies of your enemies will float by. Sun Tzu, Chinese military strategist Treat your men as you would your own beloved sons. And they will follow you into the deepest valley. Sun Tzu Feel free to add your own. |

Rob KennedyRe: Favourite QuotesBrendan, I have seen this gem of wisdom expressed somewhere else and I must say that it is an invaluable aid in buying something which was definitely not discussed in the family finance negotiations and agreed plan of savings for totally unnecessary items like new curtains, carpets etc. Following this strategy also places you in great company with giants of history- Julius Caesar, Irwin Rommel, George Patton et al. Of course you must not overuse this in the domestic environment as it can lead to more serious problems and financial losses associated with D.I.V.O.R.C.E. |

Warwick MarflittRe: Favourite Quotes"Make America Great Again" -president Donald Trump Is he going to bulldoze the industrial military complex Not medal in other countries affairs, return the Buffalo to the great plains and reinstate the Indian nation to power..........? |

Greg QuickRe: Favourite QuotesWarwick, no need to bulldoze the military complex. Strong nations need strong militaries. The American military might is what kept many other countries from speaking German right now. I am proud to have served in it myself. Funny how everyone loves the soldiers until they come home. Now being the world police and meddling in other countries business is another story. I truly wish the Great Plains buffalo were still here, always wondered how these 285 grain eld's would do on a bison but Nothing I can do about that since they've been gone for 150 years now. As far as the native Americans, don't worry about them, they get a government check every week for just being Native American. Every nation had an indigenous people before others came and change the native's lives forever. New Zealand and the indigenous Maori is one example."Every country has it's dark history, doesn't mean they can't be great nations." -Greg Quick Just made that up. Like it? |

Andrew MurrayRe: Favourite QuotesGreg I would hope that you realise that Indigenous peoples suffered immensely at the hands of colonisers all over the world. If the treatment of indigenous Americans is remotely like the treatment of indigenous Australians then there is plenty for them to be upset about. The systematic destruction, genocide, torture and murder of these peoples and the cultural identity is not a light matter. And until a country reconciles these parts of their dark histories they never amount to greatness.A quote if you will, shortened, paraphrased and somewhat out of context. He who builds on the rock will weather the storm. Matthew 7:24-27 the point being that if the foundation is shaky then a house will not stand. |

Greg QuickRe: Favourite QuotesAndrew that was my point. All nations have a dark history. None of it is to be taken lightly. Natives have every right to be upset. Torture, genocide and the mistreatment of indigenous people has been ongoing since the beginning. That what I was trying to point out in response to Warwick that making america great again was to give back the country to the native Americans. America is doing really only what it can to reconcile with Native Americans. Every country in existence is guilty of taking the land from natives not just us bang bang gitty up cowboy Americans. You can only learn from history and not repeat it. America has a lot of darkness in its past but I believe it has risen to greatness. We aren't perfect but we do try to make things right even though it may not look like it from the foreigners eyes. Thanks for your perspective. |
