Trump Elected

Well, now that it's clear that Trump has been elected as I'm sure you've all seen on your favourite news channels...

Let's all hope the he does some of the more outlandish things he has said like these trade tariffs and such in the hope that the US Dollar begins to fall and we can all enjoy cheaper rifles, scopes, projectiles, cases and so on and so forth.

Even if you really don't like Trump there may yet be a bright side to him being elected ;)

Well the people have spoken and chosen. You can't bitch and moan when your system of choice didn't deliver your golden Eggs. Watch as everyone unhappy resorts to Taliban tactics and get ugly trying to push their own agenda? Society gets the Society it deserves?

Re: Trump Elected
Yes it was indeed somewhat unexpected and the news footage of devastated democrats is testament to that!

I'm not up with what it all means but as I said above, hopefully it means cheaper shooting stuff.

Re: Trump Elected
It's a strange time in America.

It was an awkward election for me, personally. During Bill Clinton's second term as president a notion took hold in the political left and has slowly spread through media and other entities for twenty years that for the U.S. to be the "enlightened" nation we ought to be, we had (HAD) to elect Hillary Clinton as president at some point. I've never bought that but it has caused me to pay attention to her over the years. I'll summarize by saying I would not trust her to walk my dog. She'd bring the dog back but I'd be taxed for owning it, I'd have to pay for the medical care of every dog whose poop my dog sniffed, and I would not be permitted to tell my dog whether it's male or female. Then there's Trump... He's a pig. He just is. The thing these two folks have in common is that their ethics are 100% situational. No one asked, but I cast my vote for the third party candidate who is Mormon and a former CIA operative. My own little spit into the wind, I suppose. Yes, it's been weird.

Tuesday evening I had no intentions of staying up to watch election coverage. We had been told for weeks that Hillary would stroll easily to victory. But then the results started coming in. And while Trump as Commander In Chief brings me no joy, watching the "experts" on all the major TV networks try to process what was happening (and try not to wet themselves in the process) was absolutely the most riveting thing I remember seeing on television since the Chilean miners were rescued a few years ago. I've just never seen anything like it.

Anyway, it's still very much a mixed bag for me. I am relieved that the federal government is unlikely to infringe on the 2nd Amendment for a while. I am grieved for black friends who have already seen emboldened KKK idiots in their neighborhoods. I am glad that Americans who don't live on the coasts or in NY, LA, or Chicago have made their voice heard. I am saddened by the lack of grace in much of the communication taking place. I am thankful that Hillary Clinton is not the face of my homeland for the next four years. I am troubled that Donald Trump is.

It's a strange time in America. God bless America. Please, God, bless America.

Re: Trump Elected
I voted but I gave the coverage a pass. I am no huge fan of either, but bottom line I'd rather see Hillary in possession of the nuclear codes than that ignorant ass of a failed businessman. And now we essentially move from a welfare state for poor people to a welfare state for the wealthy. At least Hillary paid her taxes.

Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for lunch. Liberty is a well-armed lamb contesting the vote.

Re: Trump Elected
Trump's election has many positives, one of which is that gun and ammo prices should stabilize, and perhaps come down, meaning better availability around the world. I THINK that we should see economic improvement here and that will of course help too.

If you put New Zealand's philosophy of business and trade into affect in America our economy would absolutely soar. How about that? New Zealand schooling the good old USA on commerce and long range shooting? Well done!

Re: Trump Elected
bit of a shock alright, if you yanks wanted to know what its like to have a rich idiot running the country you could of came and visited.

Lane our economy may look good from the outside but its in pretty sad state in few ways.
we like america lost a lot of our manufacturing, yes we still make some great stuff but just not on the scale we need to really soar.

here in nz we have now entered the stage that there is the working poor, gone are the days that if you work hard, have a semi decent job and are smart about your money you can have a semi decent house in a semi decent street and have your 2.2 kids.

our economy looks good statistically because of the building boom, we manufacture a lot of construction material here, so what has happen is the immigration numbers have soared keeping the trades busy building houses, the manufactures busy making material for houses but there's is a cost i don't know any tradesmen that's not busy which mean the next generation of apprentice will struggle because they didn't learn life/trade skills off there fathers as they are busy working.
the average house price in Auckland is around a million dollars and average income is under 70k.
the people we need to have kids can't afford to and its going to catch up on us.

the gap between the haves and the haves not are wider now then it has ever been in nz.
maybe we need our own trump who know's,
the problem with politics is you need money to win, and if your wealthy and make a donation to a political party you want a return for your investment.
little off subject.

im also hoping for cheaper guns, one thing looking from outside of the usa it seems that firearm related items are a very strong point of your economy. about the only things i own that are made in the usa are firearms related

Re: Trump Elected
I'm worried that some of these trade deals may have an initial negative impact.

Even if a Democrat were elected, I really doubt there'll be much impact on the 2nd Amendment, not in our lifetimes anyway.

My concerns are around tariffs and trade and such. While I don't understand it well, the TPP looks like it's on the chopping block and that is making investors and companies here in AUS a little skittish.

My hope is that long term some of these sanctions will pull investors out of the US and that will in turn drive their dollar down as I really don't see much hope of the AUD rising on it's own steam, in the short term. We have so much potential here except our politicians are rubbish, total flops, and I wouldn't be surprised to see a Donald Trump like result here (we have already seen something similar in the Senate with independents but the lower house is still very much a 2 party system).

Time will tell...

Re: Trump Elected
what I find very amusing is that I cant think of any politician in Australia that has not slagged off Trump during the election and now they have to try and deal with him, not very smart polly's over here
