More gun law debate.

I think what bugs me most is that in reality this style of firearm action is not covered by our laws; therefore it needs to be added.

The importer is being somewhat dishonest and the gun control people are being dishonest as well. There is a letter where the Greens MP (member of parliament) calls the gun a rapid-fire then semi-semi-automatic then attempts to categorise the weapon in our Category D (very restricted ownership; self loading centrefire rifles).

Using rapid-fire to describe any guns in Australia is a favourite scare tactic of these groups. There are no single-trigger-press-multiple-shots-fired weapons available to the public. But it won't stop people using that word to keep the masses afraid and further their agenda.

The importer will be fighting to have the category as low as possible because if the gun it categorised as C or D the shooters who can buy it will overlook it for actual semi automatic guns. Yet this action mechanism is not covered in our laws. And therefore needs to be.

I realise this is somewhat limited to people with a knowledge of the gun laws in Australia and the ongoing debate here. My apologies if this seems like I am having a whinge to those from other countries where your gun laws are much more relaxed than ours. It is a level of madness and fear that makes no sense. Much like racial or class segregation policies of times gone past.

Interesting Andrew.
I wouldnt mind having a play with one of these, I wonder if they can be operated left handed.

A lot of people don't know much about gun's in Australia, some fear them probably because of misinformation and misconceptions.

I know the people selling these shot guns want to sell as many as they can but I don't think ad's showing someone rattle off shots as fast as they can does shooters any good. The anti's don't care if it cant be used accurately at that speed, all it does is get them going and give them a point to argue. Most of them want all public firearms ownership totally outlawed, we don't need to be giving them any help arguing their point.

Yeah I hear you man, I tried to talk with someone once about it... They were so set in their thinking that it was impossible for them to even consider my point of view.

I think for the rifle/shotgun to work left handed they would need to move the lever to the other side of the action. Not entirely difficult engineering wise but for a production line to move it, that may pose more difficult...

People are afraid of guns here in Oz, I think that's how the pollies like it. Helps them put further restrictions in place elsewhere.
