Joshua MayfieldI just saw this and am curious how others feel. I agree with Mr. Mann, personally. I might have added that Remington should forget about trying to hybridize the AR platform for hunting, but I could be in the minority on that point.https://www.fieldandstream.com/uncategorized/reintroducing-remington-model-700-rifles/ |

Scott StruifRe: Open Letter to RemingtonIve never found a bolt action too slow for a follow-up shot, so I dont see why hunters think a semi-automatic is necessary. I suppose an AR in 308 would make a decent brush gun, but Ive never had an issue with a 24 barreled bolt gun getting hung up in the brush. My range has the pistol and rifle areas segregated. Thats great, but they allow the AR crowd to use the same area as those of us who use bolt guns. For every 10 shots I take, they shoot 50. Theyre 223 plinkers, not hunters, and an annoying lot, at that. I think youre right, Remingtons reputation was built on the Model 700 and the Model 870/1100 shotguns. The hunting world doesnt need ARs. Remingtons business model of being all things to all people obviously didnt work. |
