Martin TaylorSorry for more politics but this is a biggy.I have just found this info from the Hunting & Shooting Party here in OZ, it ties into the lever action shotgun debate directly. This effects LR hunting-target calibres and is being discussed amongst other things! These changes would make any of these proposed Category C firearms very hard for many or most to obtain/use. Firearms that could be reclassified: Lever action shotguns and rifles (calibre not specified) Pump action rifles (Calibre not specified) Rifles of any type based on ballistic performance (no specifications) Rifles based on magazine capacity (not specified) I understand and support realistic magazine limitations unless you are culling or slaughtering stock which is a genuine reason for needing these. Why else do you need large capacity mags i.e. 15 rounds? The rest of these proposals are well past being ridiculous, how have we ended up this far left? My 308, 30-06 & 300wm will all push out a long way, are these now to be labelled the tools of Terrorists? I see adds looking for Tradies in NZ .. |

Ben LawRe: OZ gun politics has officially gone mad!!I need a 15 round mag in my Winchester 9422 because it takes a so long to reload the tube mag that I want to be refilling it as little as possible.I hope the firearms owners of Australia can band together and shut down these ridiculous proposals. Everybody wants something banned these days perhaps we should just ban everything and see where that gets us. |

Warwick MarflittRe: OZ gun politics has officially gone mad!!Sadly NZ GOVERNMENT loves following what you stoopud buggers do! And you can bet that every time you post on here that the EYE OF SORRIEN is watching us . Planning how to spread Great Dread and FEAR into the stupid flocks of wool blinded sheeple? How do we stop this tidalgrave of fearmongering that's force fed by fearful pollytitions. Through the capitalism driven news media into the homes of people who have never seen touched or will ever kill the food that they eat. I can see the day of reckon when they will say that you don't need a gun because the supermarket and Butcher can supply meat so all guns are to be confiscated to keep us safe? What have our masters got planned for the population of the future that they don't want you and I to have the means with which to fight back? As bad as America appears to be at least no one can fcuk with their right to bare arms? I'm really good with a slingshot and ball bearings or marbles especially with a grunty home made job! We're going backwards.???????? Pink Floyd songs are in my head! I have become comfortably Numb! Mother do you think they'll drop the bomb? Muma do you think they'll try to break my balls! Oh oh Mother should I build a wall? ...........Go have a listen to it? Peace and love to all. |

Thomas KitchenRe: OZ gun politics has officially gone mad!!martin nz would welcome you with open arms we need decent tradesman specially ones that speak english and aren't out to rip someone off.you could send photo's of you shooting sks ak's AR's 10/22's back to your ozzie mates giving them shite. its madness over there and most places in the world they can't just leave rules alone they try a stupid one, make us fight for our right then try it again all over again. there's been talk of a gun registry here ( we licence the people not the guns in nz ) apparently the tried it in canada with little success but they believe it will keep guns out of criminals hands some how. |

Warwick MarflittRe: OZ gun politics has officially gone mad!!What about the, Hammers knifes bottles axes spades bats golf clubs (every set of clubs should be registered and categorized by the amount of blunt force trauma the club could inflict if used as a weapon ) cars rocks bars pipes screwdrivers chisels 4×2s dogs rope wire petrol alcohol acid and I could go on! That are used every day to attack maim and kill our fellow citizens? Somethings wrong with the way we allow the world to be? Voting for political salvation to get a better society hasn't worked yet? Politics seems to me to be all about making money taking it from the people and using it for everything but the people? I have seen the 3rd world first hand! "Mali West Africa" working in gold mines. My local village workers got $3 hr before taxes and union fee's. (My contract forbids me telling you how much I was paid!) They lived in mud and stick huts no power or running water? No hospital . Malaria killed lots of the children many workers were off work no sick pay with it ! Every week the Gold would be flown out from mine site? How much $$$$$$$ do you think it would take? ????20 million !!! I love capitalism raping the poor countries of their wealth? I couldn't stay there as my Kiwi conscience kept telling me that it was morally wrong ! All that is happening today in the world is as a result of kings and queens sending out the Captain Cooks and others to find out wherever they could where the good stuff was to steal? If they'd taken DOCs advice and " Take only pictures and leave nothing but footprints ". We wouldn't have all the poor staving oppressed people running away from their crooked broken down homeland trying desperately to get into out Rich countries made so at their expense? I could write a book about it all. I just don't know where too start and I know that it wouldn't change a thing as 88% of the world's population are too selfish and self absorbed to "Think enough to care! Or care enough to think"? I know that most of you won't have read this far and if you have your probably thinking about your dinner and not the 3 month old baby dying in its mums arms in a mud hut from Malaria Because she can't afford the medicine? I get quite pissed off at people who moan about 1st world problems? I think WE ARE THE PROBLEM! I forgot to mention the Ebola that was there last year when I was there to! As Fred Dagg told us! We don't know how lucky we are to live in this joint Trev! We don't know how fourtishious are the circumstances! Full stop. |

Warwick MarflittRe: OZ gun politics has officially gone mad!!Rifles of any type based on ballistic performance (no specifications) This is the bit that worries me the most, that could mean any bloody thing! [/quote] WHEN GOVERNMENT FEARS THE PEOPLE ITS DEMOCRACY. WHEN THE PEOPLE FEAR GOVERNMENT THAT'S TYRANNY It's bullying of a minority group! A good bully always picks on the most unusual least popular person in the room! For in this case two reasons. First off it distracts everyone in the room and gets them all looking at the nasty gun owner! Then the questions start " what you need a gun for anyway" ? To defend your liberty from those who wish to see it gone! Secondly what's happening is that THE BULLY feels threatened by the Gun owner. Because as he winds up the crowd! All your doing is shooting bits of paper. But he knows that the Firearms connoisseur kills and eat things! How good would it be if the bully could turn the crowd against the Rifle owners! They will demand for a ban? And what you didn't see because you where so distracted by the GUNS DEBATE! was the Bully stealing the medical student Sally's lunch money from her bag! When it's noticed it's too late ! |

Warwick MarflittRe: OZ gun politics has officially gone mad!!Liberty, in philosophy, involves free will as contrasted with determinism.[1] In politics, liberty consists of the social and political freedoms enjoyed by all citizens. |

Martin TaylorRe: OZ gun politics has officially gone mad!!I will offer one interesting fact Warwick from the minority hunting camp.In Victoria, hunting in all its forms is the highest revenue-economy raising past time-sport in the state bar none and by multiple times over any other! That is from government surveys and puts this in the emotion V's money debate, not worrying about gun the true crime facts such as illegal pistols and such! And that reminds me Im off to our amazing Alpine High country to hunt Sambar with my son, and yes l will have my LR gear with me whilst l can . Cheers Marty. |

Emma ReeseRe: OZ gun politics has officially gone mad!!These new rules seem too extreme for responsible hunters and shooters. While limiting magazine size can make sense, banning certain guns just for their power or design feels unfair. We need balanced rules that consider both safety and lawful use. |
